Zikr-e-Shab-e-Firaaq Se

Zikr-e-shab-e-firaaq se vehshat usay bhi thee
Meri tarah kisi se mohabbat usay bhi thee
firaaq = separation (from beloved)
vehshat = apprehensive uneasiness

Mujh ko bhi shauq tha naye chehron ki deed ka
Rasta badal ke chalne ki aadat usay bhi thee
deed = visual manifestation; to see someone/something

Us raat der tak vo raha mehv-e-guftugu
Masroof main bhi kam tha faraaghat usay bhi thee
mehv = lost (in concentration); busy
faraaghat = idleness

Sunta tha vo bhi sab se puraani kahaaniyaan
Taaza rafaaqaton ki zaroorat usay bhi thee
rafaaqaton = plural of rafaaqat = companionship

Mujh se bicharr ke sheher se ghul mil gaya vo shakhs
Halaankeh sheher bhar se raqaabat usay bhi thee
raqaabat = rivalry

Vo mujh se barh ke zabt ka aadi tha jee gaya
Varna her aik saans qayaamat usay bhi thee
zabt = patience; control

Tanha hua safar mein to mujh per khula ye bhaid
Saaye se pyaar dhoop se nafrat usay bhi thee
bhaid = secret

Mohsin main yoon bhi keh na saka haal-e-dil usay
Darpesh aik taaza museebat usay bhi thee
darpesh = in front of, faced with
